The Katsina State Government has taken a step towards improving basic education by approving the recruitment of 7,000 teachers. These teachers will be assigned to various schools across the 34 Local Government Areas in the state. The Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has been given the responsibility to carry out this recruitment exercise. The aim is to ensure that only qualified and competent teachers are hired to fill vacant teaching positions in the state’s basic education sector.

Katsina SUBEB has announced vacancies for teaching positions in basic schools within the state. The recruitment process is expected to last for two weeks, allowing ample time for interested candidates to apply.

The available positions are open to candidates who hold any qualifications, including Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), Bachelor of Science in Education (B.Sc Ed), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), and Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A Ed).

Candidates with these qualifications are encouraged to apply by visiting the official Katsina State primary school teachers’ recruitment portal.

The recruitment exercise will involve a screening process after the application phase. During this screening, applicants will be evaluated to ensure they meet the necessary qualifications. After the screening, candidates will be able to check the list of shortlisted names.

Those who are shortlisted will be invited for an interview. At this stage, candidates will need to present both original and photocopies of their documents, including their academic qualifications. This interview phase is a critical step in determining the final selection of successful candidates.

The recruitment is open for several roles within the education sector, including:

Katsina SUBEB Recruitment Requirements

To ensure that only qualified people are recruited, the Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board has outlined specific eligibility criteria and requirements. These include:

  • Applicants must hold one of the following degrees or certifications: High National Diploma (HND), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree, Bachelor of Science in Education (B.Sc Ed), Bachelor of Technology in Education (B.Tech Ed), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Master of Science (M.Sc) or Master of Arts (M.A) degrees from a recognized institution, or National Certificate in Education (NCE) from an accredited institution.
  • HND holders applying for technical or vocational teaching positions must complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) within three years of recruitment.
  • Applicants must have at least five O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.
  • Applicants must not currently hold employment in any organization.
  • They must possess a valid birth certificate or sworn affidavit.
  • A certificate of Local Government of Origin is required.
  • Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) certification is mandatory. (Recruited teachers will have a two-year probationary period to obtain the necessary certification from TRCN.)
  • A valid National Identification Number (NIN) is required.
  • Applicants must be willing to work in any Local Government Area within Katsina State.

How to Apply for Katsina SUBEB Recruitment

Candidates interested in the teaching vacancies must submit their applications online via the Katsina SUBEB recruitment portal at https://subebkatsina.com. The board will not accept paper applications.

All applicants must take a Computer-Based Test (CBT) as part of the recruitment process. This test is designed to assess the competency of applicants.

To qualify, candidates must score a minimum of 45%.

Physical Interview and Document Verification

Candidates who pass the CBT will proceed to a physical interview. During this phase, their documents will be thoroughly screened to verify their authenticity.

Only candidates who meet all the outlined requirements and successfully pass all stages of the recruitment process will be considered for employment. These candidates will receive their appointment letters from Katsina SUBEB.

The Katsina State Government has issued strict warnings against any form of corruption during this recruitment exercise. Candidates are advised not to pay anyone for job placement. Those found engaging in such activities will be disqualified and handed over to security agencies for prosecution.
